Dormir listens to your night on your iPhone, and that's where the audio stays.

Last updated 1 October 2026

What Dormir records

When you start a night, Dormir uses the iPhone microphone to listen for snoring and possible breathing pauses until you stop it. It needs your permission to use the microphone, and you can turn that off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

From that audio, Dormir stores on your iPhone:

What Dormir doesn't do

Dormir does not send any of this data off your iPhone. There is no Dormir server, account, or sign-in. The app contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking code, and it doesn't use the network. We, the developer, never see your recordings or reports.

How long data is kept

Night audio is deleted automatically after 7 days by default. You can change this to 3 days, 30 days or until you delete it yourself in Dormir's Settings. Nights you mark as kept are not deleted automatically. You can delete all audio at any time from Settings.

Night reports stay on your iPhone after their audio is deleted, so trends keep working. Deleting Dormir removes all of its data, reports and audio included.

Backups

Night audio is excluded from iCloud and computer backups. Night reports and settings are included in your iPhone backup if you have backups turned on. Those backups are handled by Apple under your Apple Account and are not accessible to us.

Security

Dormir's files are protected by iOS data protection, which encrypts them with your device passcode.

Health information

Snoring and breathing data can be sensitive. Because it never leaves your device, it is only as accessible as your iPhone itself. Dormir is not a medical device and does not diagnose sleep apnea. If you share a recording or report with a doctor, you choose how to do it.

Children

Dormir is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If Dormir ever starts collecting data, this page will say so before that version of the app is released.
